Boilermakers & Fitters | Olympic Dam Shutdown | FIFO 

Mergent Group is currently seeking experienced Boilermakers and Mechanical Fitters for an upcoming shutdown at Olympic Dam, South Australia. This is a short-term FIFO opportunity working on fixed plant maintenance, with flights, camp accommodation and meals provided.

Pay Rates

Boilermakers & Fitters

  • Day Shift: $67.50/hr
  • Night Shift: $77.50/hr

Trade Assistants

  • Day Shift: $55.00/hr
  • Night Shift: $65.00/hr

About the Role

You will be carrying out planned shutdown maintenance on fixed plant air pollution control equipment. Work will involve both external plant maintenance and confined space activities.

Boilermakers

  • Shutdown maintenance on fixed plant equipment
  • MIG welding using flux-cored wire (Verticor 3XP)
  • Stick welding using low hydrogen electrodes
  • Oxy-acetylene cutting and gouging
  • Fabrication, repairs and maintenance of plant equipment

Mechanical Fitters

  • Fixed plant inspections and maintenance
  • Chain tensioning
  • Replacing gland packing
  • Removing and reinstalling covers and components
  • General shutdown mechanical maintenance

About You

This is standard shutdown maintenance work rather than highly specialised work; however, we're looking for tradespeople who:

  • Are competent and confident in their trade
  • Can work safely with minimal supervision
  • Take pride in producing quality workmanship
  • Are physically fit and comfortable working at heights
  • Work well as part of a team in a shutdown environment

Requirements

To be considered, you must have:

  • White Card
  • Relevant Trade Qualification
  • Current Confined Space ticket (issued within the last 4 years)
  • Ability to work on elevated fixed plant
  • Clean shaven for site access requirements
  • Ability to comply with site drug and alcohol policies, including pre-employment screening
