The engine room of recruitment and labour hire.
Mergent is growing, and we need a Recruitment Coordinator who can help us screen candidates, keep communication moving and support labour hire mobilisation.
This is a practical, important role. The work you do behind the scenes helps people get to site, helps clients fill critical workforce gaps, and helps the recruitment team deliver properly.
Mergent is a privately owned Australian business that moves quickly, stays close to the detail and takes pride in doing excellent work under pressure.
This role would suit someone organised, responsive and calm under pressure. You do not need to be the loudest person in the room, but you do need to care about accuracy, follow-up and getting things done properly.
The role
You will support the recruitment team across candidate screening, advertising, compliance, onboarding and mobilisation.
You will be speaking with candidates, checking details, collecting documents, updating systems and helping make sure people are ready for work.
In labour hire, small details matter. A missed ticket, medical, reference, licence or mobilisation requirement can create real problems. This role is about staying close to the detail and keeping things moving without letting quality drop.
What you’ll be doing
- Screening candidates by phone
- Shortlisting applicants
- Booking interviews
- Completing reference checks
- Posting and refreshing job ads
- Collecting licences, tickets and compliance documents
- Supporting medicals, inductions and onboarding
- Updating candidate records and internal systems
- Communicating with candidates about next steps
- Supporting mobilisation for labour hire roles
- Assisting consultants with urgent recruitment requirements
- Following up candidates who have gone quiet
- Helping maintain a strong candidate experience
Who this suits
You may have experience in recruitment administration, labour hire coordination, mobilisation, customer service, operations, compliance, HR administration or a busy office support role.
You may not have formal recruitment experience, but you must be comfortable speaking to people, managing details and working at pace.
You will suit Mergent if you are:
- Relentless with follow-up
- Attentive to detail
- Responsive with candidates and the team
- Comfortable on the phone
- Organised without needing everything spoon-fed
- Honest when something is missed
- Proud of doing excellent work, even when no one sees it
What we’re looking for
- Strong administration and coordination skills
- Good phone manner
- High attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Confidence using systems, databases and Microsoft Office
- Good written communication
- Willingness to learn recruitment and labour hire processes
- Ability to work under pressure without becoming careless
Experience in recruitment, labour hire, mobilisation, mining, construction, industrial services or compliance would be helpful, but attitude and work quality matter most.
What’s on offer
- A role with genuine impact
- Exposure to mining, infrastructure and labour hire recruitment
- Supportive team environment
- Privately owned Australian business
- Direct access to decision-makers
- Opportunity to learn recruitment from the ground up
- A business where effort, follow-through and excellent work are noticed
