Mergent Group are seeking Data Communications technicians for a 3-month Project at Olympic Dam Mine Site in South Australia.

We are working with a Tier 1 contractor who are building the temporary facilities that support the workforce for the Smelter Campaign Maintenance (SCM27) shutdown. The technology package connects six new areas to the Olympic Dam network. This is an exciting opportunity with potential for ongoing work.

Mandatory requirements:

• ACMA Open Cabling Registration with structured cabling and optical fibre endorsements. (Note not all require this but at least 3)
• Proven experience installing and terminating structured cabling and single-mode fibre on industrial, mining or major construction sites
• Fusion splicing experience
• Experience with fibre and copper testing (OTDR, light source/power meter, Fluke certifier or similar)
• Able to read cable schedules, rack layouts and network drawings
• EWP licence (boom type, 11 m+) and Working at Heights
• Construction Induction White Card
• Current driver’s licence
• Able to pass a BHP pre-employment medical and D&A test

• Roster: 14 days on / 7 off, 12-hour day shifts
• Travel: flights Adelaide to Olympic Dam mine site only

This is a great opportunity for someone who is physically fit, hands-on and keen to gain experience working alongside a UAV/Robotics team on site.

Mergent Group are seeking two UAV / Assistant Drivers to join the team on a casual project basis, from now until the end of September, as required.

We have one position available in Launceston/Devonport and one in Hobart.

We currently have a project underway involving the inspection of a large volume of distribution poles using drones. We are looking for reliable individuals who can drive the project vehicle, navigate between locations and provide general support to the UAV pilot during field operations.

About the Role

• Drive the project vehicle between distribution poles and work locations
• Navigate efficiently between sites using GPS and mapping systems
• Support the UAV pilot with day-to-day drone operations
• Act as an additional observer/spotter during UAV operations
• Assist with equipment handling, setup and pack-down
• Provide general field support as required
• Maintain a strong focus on safety and compliance while working in the field

About You

• Full, unrestricted Australian driver’s licence – essential
• Good navigation and communication skills
• Reliable, punctual and safety-focused
• Comfortable working outdoors and travelling between multiple locations
• Able to work independently while also supporting the wider team
• Previous experience with UAV/drone operations is advantageous but not essential
