You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Data Comms Wi-Fi networks, CCTV systems, Fibre infrastructure, and Access Control solutions to ensure secure and reliable site connectivity.

 

You will be responsible for:

 

  • Working successfully within teams across data and communications projects and integration works.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with supervisors and project managers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Participating in site safety inspections, pre-start meetings and toolbox talks

Mergent Group is supporting a leading communications technology integrator to find a Site Supervisor to join our team to assist in a major long term expansion project at Olympic Dam.

 

Key responsibilities of the role:

 

  • Supervise and lead field teams across data and communications projects and integration works.
  • Liaise with Project Managers and Engineers on project scheduling, delivery, equipment needs, and infrastructure readiness.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients’ supervisors and project managers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct site safety inspections, pre-start meetings and toolbox talks
  • Review and prepare work packs, drawings, and checklists for site builds.
  • Monitor project progress and quality, providing technical guidance and coaching to teams.
  • Participate in site meetings, audits, capital installs, and administrative tasks as needed

 

To be successful in this position, you will have:

 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction and integration of data and communications projects.
  • Working knowledge of BHP requirements
  • Previous experience working to a supervisor level
  • Certificate III in Telecommunication Technology
  • Strong planning and coordination skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Sound technical understanding and ability to guide a multi-trade project team effectively.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
  • A strong commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing a high-performing engineering team responsible for delivering complex wired and wireless communication systems across major projects. You’ll combine technical expertise with team management, resource planning, and project oversight to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality engineering delivery.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers delivering communications infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee end-to-end engineering design, development, procurement, testing, and commissioning.
  • Manage engineering resources, priorities, and workloads across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Review and approve technical documentation, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with Australian Standards.
  • Drive collaboration across project management, operations, logistics, and technical support teams.
  • Conduct design reviews and Safety in Design assessments to mitigate risks.
  • Provide technical input for tenders, proposals, and project estimates.
  • Support training, coaching, and succession planning within the engineering team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Electrical, or Telecommunications Engineering (or similar).
  • 15+ years’ experience in professional engineering roles, including 5+ years in leadership.
  • Proven background in telecommunications, mining, oil & gas, or defence industries.
  • Strong technical understanding of communications and electrical systems.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

We’re seeking experienced Data Cabling Technicians based in South Australia. If you have a proven track record in installing, testing, and commissioning fibre optic infrastructure, this is your chance to join a professional, driven team. Key Responsibilities

  • Install and test fibre optic infrastructure.
  • Patch panels, switches, servers, and other ICT equipment.
  • Perform fault finding and testing, including Fluke testing.
  • Conduct splicing, including ribbon splicing.
  • Understand and work with networks effectively.
  • Deliver excellent customer service in client interactions.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in communications or cabling.
  • ACMA Open Cable Registration with optic fibre and structured cabling endorsements (essential).
  • Telecommunication Certificate III qualification.
  • Electrical A-grade qualifications (highly regarded).
  • NV1 security clearance (highly regarded).
  • Vendor endorsements (highly regarded).
  • Construction white card.
  • Asbestos and Silica Awareness certifications.
  • Data centre experience preferred.
