Job Description

Mergent Group is seeking a skilled Project Scheduler to support our operations at Olympic Dam. This is a FIFO role (ex-Adelaide) offering a flexible 5/2 or 4/3 roster, with camp accommodation and meals provided. You’ll also have the option to transition to Adelaide-based work once established in the position.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using approved software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Convert scopes and work breakdown structures (WBS) into clear and logical schedules.
  • Integrate subcontractor and vendor schedules into a master schedule.
  • Monitor progress against baseline plans, identifying variances and risks.
  • Maintain accurate records of planned vs. actual progress.

Project Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, including earned value, critical path, and milestone tracking.
  • Support forecasting, resource planning, and identification of schedule impacts.
  • Provide data-driven insights to Project Managers and site leadership.
  • Assist with schedule inputs for tenders and proposals.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Supervisors, and field teams to gather reliable progress data.
  • Foster strong working relationships with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally with stakeholders.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure schedules reflect safe work sequencing and adequate time for risk controls.
  • Follow all safety policies and report hazards, incidents, and near misses.
  • Support the inclusion of safety milestones within project schedules.

Quality Assurance & Improvement

  • Ensure all schedule documents meet internal quality standards and maintain version control.
  • Identify deviations from plan and support corrective action processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of scheduling, reporting, and digital tools.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in project scheduling, planning, or project controls within construction, maintenance, or industrial projects.
  • Construction White Card.
  • Certificate IV or higher in Project Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and resource planning.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with large-scale mining or industrial projects (desirable).
